It's been a helluva couple of weeks and a helluva couple of days. Trying to be social and active here at FC but I'm finding myself just trying to recover, which isn't very social.

Aw man that sucks. You are a good kitty and anyone who thinks differently can go kick rocks

It's not that that hasn't been the top of our mind, it's that the cost of space rental and setup and teardown in the space is huge, so we're doing what we can until we can be sure it's safe to move.

Letting everyone know that there is a coat check available for attendees in the Convention Center! They are available until 11pm each day to store your bags and fursuit bins too!

Find it at SJCC 112

While we're at it: here's a shot of our finished-the-conbook celebratory meal at Fox Tale Fermentation, right next to Milk Belly on Santa Clara St. About a 10-15 minute walk from the convention center. Delicious food and beer - plus, they love FC and offered a nice discount for attendees!

At FC and want a really excellent breakfast? Hit up Milk Belly Bakery.

Today: longanisa sando on fresh-baked-here bread with a Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and an Elvis Toast with peanut-butter-cream-top Hojicha. Lots of furry groups here, folks love it :)

Yeah I think so, that's their name in the swim ring! They did the pocket program art a few years ago too.

We don't talk to Fox in this house. Unless I'm the fox.
Hi everyone

Quick news safety note:

We’ve had unapproved/unescorted media spotted around the SJCC. If you see anyone without an Official FC Media Badge, please do not engage, instead, come to ConOps immediately & report it so our team can handle it.

Thank you!

Thanks. I admit I'm a little proud to have suggested it. I do think it's imperfect because some dealers might not prefer it, some vocal attendees don't like it, and it doesn't protect the whole dealer experience; however, it seems clear, well-appreciated, and low-cost for relatively high value.
January 13, 2026 at 9:12 PM
Context: We on FC staff internally discussed in mid-2023, for FC2024, whether to lift mask requirements because it was no longer venue-mandated. Lots wanted to lift the mandate, fursuiters especially. Dealers were very concerned about health and "sick time". We suggested this imperfect compromise. 🤷🏽‍♂️
January 13, 2026 at 8:10 PM
FC may or may not have this current mask policy forever, but for now it seems to remain popular (if not unanimously so) among dealers, and they're the ones providing the goods and balancing "dollars walking in" against their health risk. It's not political; we'll just keep asking and keep listening.
January 13, 2026 at 3:47 AM
Why masking in 2026? Beyond COVID it's still cold and flu season, dealers can't opt out of their own sales room, and most don't get any kind of sick pay. I have also heard some mention how art is their profession in part because of chronic illness or disability, so the stakes differ vs the public.
For the safety and comfort of all our dealers, masks will be mandatory in both the Dealers Den and Adult Dealers Den at #FurCon2026. Please ensure you have a mask ready before entering these areas. Thank you for helping us create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone!
January 13, 2026 at 3:47 AM
I suggested the "just those rooms" middle ground mid-2023, since Dealers is the main airspace that dealers cannot effectively opt out of; a majority of dealers still seem to like it as policy. Not permanent, but the annual question we ask is what best serves both the vendor and attendee communities.
January 13, 2026 at 12:47 AM
No, no "evermaskers" involved in the conversation. Masking is popular with dealers, and for understandable reason—there is disproportionate chronic illness and disability among dealers (drawing them to art as a profession), they travel constantly, and they don't have "sick pay" to speak of.
