"I will read anything Chaz Brenchley writes. His prose is melted butter with tarragon, and his characters and worldbuilding equally delicious. Open this book to any page, and you will find something to delight you." - Ellen Kushner on Of the Emperor's Kindness

"A legend shall be forged" because legends are forgeries.
The Sea-Stone Sword explores the meanings of heroism - dramatic speeches, epic battles, and daring escapes. But then the darkness behind them. Are the deeds alone enough to call someone a hero?

Book Quote Wednesday's word is 'room' #BookQW
After the Tales of Einarinn, I wanted to explore other places in the world I had sketched in. First, the Aldabreshin Archipelago, where magic is banned on pain of death - which is a problem when magic attacks.

The Aldebreshin Compass is one of my favourite series; in fact I think the world crafted in these four series is under-recognised as a stand out achievement, feeling fresh but also seeming grounded in the real concerns of believable people. I highly recommend the series.

I very much enjoyed writing my short story in this - a very different take on my current series The Making of This World Ruined.
With stories by Danie Ware, Juliet McKenna, Anna Smith Spark and many others, Fight Like A Girl #2 has been a feature on award short lists this year. Find out why people love it so much:

It is Book Quote Wednesday and the word is 'room'. In 'The Sheltering Flame' by Ruthanna Emrys from Wiz Duo #3, Leah and her friends have an unexpected visitor. And if you think what young Chloe says sounds like a magical incantation, you'd be dead right. #BookQW

Love novellas? How about two in one book? In Wiz Duo 2, Juliet Kemp sends a reluctant knight on a quest, while E M Faulds gives her heroine a superpower that totally sucks.

It is Book Quote Wednesday and the word is 'happen'. In The Fabulous Zoo by Helen Brady, Rag & Boyd have discovered that small dragon-like pets they are not supposed to have can set things on fire, including the castle furnishings. They are in big trouble. #BookQW
