With Rust and every other PVP survival basebuilding shooter you can spend like 8 hours rolling a rock uphill only for a guy named "Femboy Putin Bussy" to decide he dislikes you enough to kick the rock back to the bottom while your back was turned.

The difference in genre is also very important, but "Game that can be a dicksmasher" is a lot more appealing to me if there's less of a timesink involved. With Deadlock I'm at most risking being annoyed for the latter half of a 30-40 minute long match.

Deadlock occupies the same space in my brain as Rust for "Game where you either have a great time or get put in Mickey's Dicksmasher the entire game", except I like Deadlock a lot more because I feel like the gameplay is more intuitive for its respective genre.
