I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

Important to note ICE tends to drop off detainees before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m., which is why people were protesting at 5 a.m. to begin with. It's not because waking up at 4 a.m. was a convenient time for protesters!

New: Broadview, IL Mayor Katrina Thompson issued an executive order today - her first this year - limiting protest outside the Broadview ICE facility to between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The order cites "recent escalation of violence by ICE" at the facility as reason to restrict protest there.

I really enjoyed One Battle After Another (I've paid to see it twice!) but there is definitely an aspect of it that keeps me from proclaiming it the showstopper that others have; I think what @sjjphd.bsky.social highlights is the crux of why I'd call it a 4-star movie and not 5.

I saw One Battle After Another and did not enjoy it. I am clearly the outlier but I thought the sexual politics of the film were bad. The representation of Black women revolutionaries was painful and I think the fixation on interracial sex and a mixed race character is a hackneyed trope.
