If you get a chance, I highly recommend making your way to your local indie (or mainstream, if you must) theater & take in the delight that is DEATHSTALKER! Caught it as part of my remote Fantastic Fest coverage & thoroughly enjoyed the retro feel & gore on display

Been curious to revisit this film since I first saw it at Cinepocalypse in 2019. I just remember that it starts out dark & mean, before taking a left turn into some crazy & gonzo stuff.
Curious to see how it holds up.

I needed something lite & fun to put on, so I'm showing my wife DEADSTREAM for the first time. She's a fan of several Twitch streamers, I'm very interested to see what she thinks!

THE ADDICTION is a movie that's long stayed in my head, even though I've only watched it a couple times. The flow of the dense dialogue, the lighting and b&w photography, Lili Taylor just crushing it, how Walken says "nothing" & "defecate", the repeated power dynamics. One of Ferrara's best films.

Can only hope it's like those tech start up bubbles where everyone goes big on their own thing only for them all to crumble

In each of the big AI talks this week there's the same line that AI creators tout "xx is not meant to replace traditional actors/directors/movies," to which I have to foolishly ask "then what's the point?" are the AI avenues being mentioned for attention, clout or what? It's all bad & should go away

Me too! So this is definitely going on my list!

I've had a couple screeners fail the last couple of days. Deathstalker must save me.

We both should definitely try to make a return next year. I got your back for sure.

Oh wow, from Donator's mouth to my ears. This is what I hoped to hear! Might not be able to see it on a big screen, but may be the screener I start Sunday off with!

Too cute. Really. Ugh. Annoyingly cute.

All of them. Gotta find the place with the Midnight Baja Blast pie
yoadriantorres.bsky.social
Ah yes, a reason to make it to November. Now to just hope there is a November, unless in our timeline these baja blast pies become the currency we all believed that Twinkies would be in the apocalypse...

You know you want to argue this logic, but it's just too damn sound

My brain is confused, as normally I'd be arriving in Austin at this time, readying for Fantastic Fest. Due to not working January & my wife having a major surgery & finally getting a long COVID diagnosis, it wasn't in the cards. Yet it's the friends I normally see that I am so sad to be missing.

It's Friday Night Frights at Screenland Armour & @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social are showing the full uncut version of Quentin Tarantino's DEATH PROOF as part of the theater's RUSSELLMANIA set of films!

I love Amy Madigan so much. Always have always will

Today is the last day for my wife's surgery recovery, before heading back to work and the one thing she wanted to do was go see a movie, so we're finally seeing WEAPONS as we both have the day off!

I'm putting THE UNDERTONE last here, only because of the HUGE news of A24 nabbing the distribution rights today. It's a great debut feature (also for the sound mixer & cinematographer) that will sadly get the "scariest movie" moniker, but it's seriously well made.
