To all @SenateDems and @HouseDemocrats… please vote for or confirm a republican or tRump stooge and I GUARANTEE YOU I will not vote for or endorse you in the next election. It seems a lot of you are lacking the spine necessary to battle the idiots in this administration. You are GUTLESS!

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;
Riot cops standing a street with less-lethal weapons, and one in a gas mask has a cloud of pepper dust around his helmet.

On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

ICE spent $800K on vans with stingray tech that collects data from all nearby phones, even yours. These devices mimic cell towers to track locations and intercept communications. Oversight and transparency are needed now.

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

In this new essay, I take a look at Thomas Burnett Swann's second novel, 1967's THE WEIRWOODS, a novel set in ancient Etruria about slavery, freedom, violence, justice, belonging -- and also love, grief, and how we find the strength to move on after tragedy.

People should be scared,” said Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, former director of the CDC’s National Center on Immunization and Respiratory Diseases
