We saw an octopus hunt, hamlets mate, a nurse shark super close, a barracuda’s teeth, manatees and their bellies, and hosted an interspecies parrotfish party. California Sheephead, Catalina Island. This species has wild sexual dimorphism--they're all born female (which are small, slender & bright orange) then morph into this male form depending on environmental conditions. They can live for 50 yrs and grow up to 3 feet! 🦑 #scuba #diving #oceans #fish

I am strangely addicted to Peacock Flounders (Bothus lunatus). This is a lefteye flounder, which lie on their right side with both eyes on the left side. I usually saw them in white sand, where their blue rings stand out, but they can change color rapidly to match the background. 🦑 #scuba #diving
