Right? I feel like bleak media in the US attaches itself to other stories where you know the ending is happy because it softens the blow of the emotions you feel. I think the only one that I can think of too is the case of Benjamin button where in the end the guy dies before his wife as a baby

in the end because the empire falls due to the death star plans going out. I would count devilman but thats not US specif media ya know. Like if you dont count international films when is the last time something US based was just tragic? Idk was just thinking about stuff while watching tv

All the way to the end of their mission and they all die. Like to me that is honestly more powerful then people realize? Like a good explanation on the struggle of war missions? No one made it out which is crazy??? my only gripe is since it is entangled with the main story you know it all works /2

I dont think there is a lot of bleak media in the united states? Like whole stories dedicated to not having the best ending. Like besides horror/disaster when is the last time you saw a movie with just a devastating ending? I feel like rouge one is a good example to an extent where we follow them /1
