As a patriots fan, and thus existing in Kraft country, I want to be very clear that "American cheese" and "Kraft" are not actually exclusive. It's actually okay to like it and also say "fuck Kraft." No one is judging you.

I'm not popular enough to be the object of scorn, but I want to be clear that this is me

As far as I'm concerned @whstancil.bsky.social and Gavin Newsom are on the same wavelength and neither one of them should be public voices

I've clearly had a bad day. I'm in a fighting mood. But fuck @whstancil.bsky.social and whatever holier-than-thou bullshit he's peddling that only favors the conservative mindset that also fuels ICE. Either you respect human beings, or you think "poor people could pay less" and comply

People literally budget for savings because that money can be the lifeline for a medical emergency, and it could be the one and only time you can take a road trip with your family, absolutely fuck you and this belief.
You should re-read the reply you are responding to. It's mocking people who save money (i.e., have extra money after all the essentials) yet still cry about it.

My going belief is that Will will never block or quote tweet a cishet white dude who thinks he's a fucking knob.
If you're eating one egg a day, a 2% increase in egg costs raises your egg spending by about two dollars annually. You'd notice this?

Absolutely fucking stupid to pick one of the most used ingredients in cooking. I'm just gonna keep doing this til he either blocks me or apologizes to eggs.

Seeing multiple people quit a job that obviously sucks while you continue to rationalize doing the job kind of fucks you up.

Just free reign for any Republican to just run as a Democrat. It worked for Fetterman, Sinema, Eric Adams, it's gonna work for Newson and then he'll throw under a series of busses driven by Charlie Kirk fans.
Counterpoint: if the Prince of Darkness rises from a fiery portal at the Iowa Caucus and declares his opposition to Donald Trump, I will ride to battle with the host of Hell

I both cannot believe, and am fully unsurprised, the (online, at least) discourse around Dem candidates seems to be that it's all but a given that Newsom will win the primaries and anyone that says they don't want him in the General Election is a psyop commie who's solely responsible for fascism.

So much in the world right now is terrible and yet I was not prepared for the music video for Some Nights by Fun. A song that I believe is the perfect example of "had me in the first half."

I know it's 11 o'clock at night and I have work tomorrow, but also, what if I watched The Muppet Movie, or O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Knowing at least one other horror film already released has been getting super-hyped means I'm paying extra attention to anything Scott Weinberg says is fantastic. Me, I'm anyone, Scott knows horror.
this is the best horror film of the year, so far, if you ask me, and I know my horror. ask anyone!

We went there, and now we're back again! Today Shelved by Genre concludes our reading of THE HOBBIT, discussing a bit more Tolkien's literary scholarship as it inflects his aesthetic projects and why therefore Beowulf needed a little guy who followed him around. rangedtouch.com/2026/02/13/t...

I can text a friend I met when we were waiting for the bus to go to kindergarten and ask if he still wants to get drinks next time he's in town to see his mom.
watching John Green talk about his buddy from high school who is still his friend and I’m curious, is that common for people on here?

I have a fantasy football league and a second group chat with mostly friends from high school and the only two exceptions are partners they met later. I also come from a town where the HS mascot is the Townie and it's pretty common to just never move away.

Im very lucky Waypoint launched at a time I needed critical media literacy and cultural understanding. I count myself luckier that I can learn from @jmrivera.bsky.social @austinwalker.bsky.social and more from @aftermath.site and @rangedtouch.bsky.social about how art can teach but isn't singular

Was it ever confirmed that the Penguin car chase in The Batman was filmed during COVID lockdowns? It's all extreme closeups of their faces in the driver seats, and then sort of not exciting establishing shots of cars careening down a non-distinct freeway doing non-stunts.

This is how you do character-acting: I'm currently watching Jeffery Wright play Gordon in The Batman while my father is watching Jeffery Wright play the Felix Leiter in James Bond as fully independent decisions we just made today.

It's in fact incredibly intellectually healthy to see the arc of a story and understand how an ending happens fully regardless of whether that ending is "hopeful," or "bleak."
February 12, 2026 at 11:47 AM
I promise it is okay if a movie/book/game/show ends on a down note. In fact, the writers/actors/devs almost certainly did it for a reason and had long long critical thoughts about why it had to happen. And you can have your own long think about why it happened fully separated from that intent.
Threads director Mick Jackson has expressed worry over the upcoming remake’s focus on finding “hope even in the most challenging of times.”

“That one phrase worried me,” he tells Empire. “Hope is not part of nuclear war.”
