Autism is not a disease, you fucks.
…it really bothers me that this insipid line should end in “us,” not “we”
The Kamala Harris book is so excruciating

Edgar Wright makes YA movies. i can't defend this opinion, but it makes intuitive sense to me.

trying and failing to think of a less interesting thing to talk about than Star Wars. i would _welcome_ people arguing about Marvel slop again.

i'm not going to "rank" Star Wars movies. i have no interest in sharing my truths with the vile rabble.

This is where the fish lives.
It’s thanksgiving week so I wanna see some MST3K posting, quotes, pictures, clips, gifs! Meanwhile I’m going to go to a department meeting and try to pay attention while I wonder if there’s beer on the sun

i wonder if i'll ever actually play through all of The Witcher 3. Or Baldur's Gate 3. I think those are my two biggest "Everyone loves these, and I really want to be able to enjoy them myself, although I don't know if I'll ever be in the right headspace for them" games.

so, this weekend's Welcome To Derry was particularly bad, and what miniscule faith I might have had that the show was going somewhere interesting is gone.

Watching the 1968 adaptation of M.R. James’s “Whistle and I’ll Cone To You,” and, while this is an odd thing to praise, in addition to being terrifically eerie, it it has some of the best “solitary pompous old man” acting and writing I’ve ever seen.

It turns out when you have very little executive function and just want to be a novelist, “getting a library job in college and sticking with it until you become a librarian by default” is one of the better ways to end up.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

This is beautiful in its simplicity and decency.
Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

I wonder how much it bugs Bill Hader that he slightly fumbled the amazing “i roll with a crew of problematic bachelor” line. That clip gets posted a -lot-

as someone who enjoyed Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy with some pretty serious reservations about the third book, is the Book of Dust worth a look?

Here is something we could do: what if we stopped being fucking weird about autism
We can laugh about how stupid this is, but at the end of the day, a not-insignificant number of parents will believe the CDC and refuse to vaccinate. And some of their children will die because of it.

Nixonland. It’s like a James Elroy novel where the main character is “American voters.”
Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

...so it kills the genre? because, like--that's the thing about shooting zombies in the head. it kills them. (i _think_ they're going for a pun on "shot in the arm," but you can't do that when the "pun" already means something else.)
