Turns out the campaign is not only scripted, but skills to make picking up the ball easier get added later. The turnover rules aren't hell on earth as I first experienced.
I will now direct my pent up homicidal rage towards the other team as Nuffle intended

So I picked up Bloodbowl on my roommates recommendation
I did the campaign because it introduced mechanics one at a time
Then the campaign added the Turnover rules
I am now so angry that I want to hurt literally everyone involved with the development of this game
I will have my revenge
