This fascinates me on so many levels.
The first is that how will LLM bots recreate the parasocial relationship side of the gig (although the AI boyfriend subreddit makes me worry that people will fall for that)?
Then there's the whole influencer sherpa gig that has started at National Parks...

So I once read a story where a father discovered some weird (turned out to be alien) educational toy that he gave to his children. He could never figure it out, but it taught their more flexible brains how to think in higher dimensions. It then turned out that Jabberwocky was written in code.

Midway through day 3 of the atmospheric river crisis and Seattle has been so rainshadowed that there weren't even particularly deep puddles on my walk this morning. Hoping that continues!

I was hoping that something like Apple News + would be the thing to make it work, passing along the money they made to the people who wrote it, but it's the same thing as Spotify. You can't fund an entire industry off of $10/month.
not sure how to square ‘no one person can be reasonably expected to pay for every media subscription’ with ‘sorely underpaid writers need to make a living’ but my inclination is not to locate that problem with any of the broke ass people on either end of the complaint

And I think a sub divide is that some people don’t get that content can have negative value.
If you wrote 4 great essays, people will think of you as a person with interesting ideas who should write more. If you wrote 4 great essays that are buried under piles of garbage, no one will find them.

As a general rule, I don't take requests for these. The entire purpose of the Phish Stats Morning Coffee is to start out with just the canvas that is the setlist history for that day, run it through the random generator that my mind can be, and see where I end up. (1/5)

The big one of course is if I asked people in their 50s, “What was the exact date of the OJ car chase?” gen-pop would be lucky to have a 1-2% success rate whereas Phish fans of that age would probably be at least 35-40%
John Lennon was killed 45 years ago today. That's one of those dates that I can always remember via Phish because Come Together was debuted on 12/8/95 in homage. But it's the Tweezer > Kung > Tweezer that really represented that. (1/3)

One time my brother and I were playing football 2 on 1 against my dad. We tried a weird play and my father penalized us 15 yards for intense stupidity.
