Light it up for #NautilusNight with an original Nautilus Reading Lamp by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. (NYC, USA), bronze & leaded glass, c. 1899-1902. [A later version would use an actual #nautilus shell for the shade.]
Cleveland Museum of Art: clevelandart.org/art/1997.298
#ArtNouveau
official museum photo of the nautilus lamp; Bronze, leaded glass
Overall: 34.5 x 21.3 x 13.4 cm (13 9/16 x 8 3/8 × 5 1/4 in.);
DESCRIPTION Benjamin Hubbell, the architect of the Cleveland Museum of Art, acquired this vase from Louis Comfort Tiffany, with whom he collaborated on various projects. The shape of the nautilus shell provides the perfect space to conceal a light bulb, the newest form of technology at the time. As a result, this lamp was a critical success and sold both in this original form and with the later alteration of a bronze mermaid for the stand and an actual nautilus shell for the shade.

We're spending $20B to bail out Argentina, but they cut USAID down to the bone, causing deaths around the world. The entire budget of USAID, the whole agency, was $21B last year. Shameful.

The Trump administration confirmed that the U.S. bailed out Argentina.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had directly bought Argentine pesos in global currency markets in a bid to relieve pressure on the nation’s embattled President Javier Milei, a supporter of President Trump.

The 1988 Hamas charter is known for its stated call for the destruction of Israel and its use of antisemitic and conspiracy-theory language. Hamas released a revised policy document in 2017 to temper some of this rhetoric to improve its image, but didn't rescind the 1988 charter.

Was it just reality tv > IG influencers > TikTok that led all the young women to be so vulnerable to anti-Israel bullshit? And Covid over and over so they’re even less capable of critical thought? Some young woman on the local FB page all up in arms about Israel and citing Greta. Idiotic.

Real estate investors now own about 20% of single-family homes in the country.

A big reason why home prices have skyrocketed in recent years is a lack of supply — and investors sinking their teeth into whatever is left on the market is making the problem even worse.

Let me say it more clearly for those who about to be shitty. Netanyahu had no interest in having Harris or Biden as president. He favored Trump and this was known on a global scale. Think for yourself what that means and don't be silly.

I was looking this up and happened upon the Google search suggestion "does the placenta come from the father." Thought that was fun.

I'm sorry, did Temu Mel Gibson here just sat that the baby is *in* the placenta?

Is there any aspect of human biology this lumbering science experiment of a man can't get wrong?

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
