Farewell Twitter www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/01... I planned to stay on Twitter until 20 January. But Musk has made that impossible. I won't be posting there again while he runs the show. This is now my main social media outlet.
Farewell Twitter
I had planned to cease using Twitter on 20 January in protest at Trump’s election and his promotion of Elon Musk. However, events have overtaken that plan. It is now quite clear that Elon Musk is a t...

Macron denounces Elon Musk's "unacceptable interference" in European democracies by supporting "a new reactionary international".

He's the 4th European leader in the last day to speak against Musk following Olaf Scholz, Keir Starmer & Jonas Gahr Støre.

Going out in a limb here Greg, but could it possibly be that these women are the handful who are in a position to hold a man seen as holding a position of power to account without facing a life destroying backlash? Purely spitballing here if course.

Who's going to tell Gggggggregggg that the reason #MiddleClassWomenOfACertainAge are the ones calling him out is because they're the one with sufficient privilege to do so. Unlike, for ex, a chef in her 20s trying to progress her career in a field he has much influence over?

I've calculated the numbers from original ONS published stats now. If we exclude international students (as all countries do), the net migration figure for last year is 470,000.

Of whom 376,000 came for work.

Half of the rest were HK and Ukrainians.

That is the non-sensational headline for today.
Secondly, the UK is only major country that counts students as immigrants. It is ABSURD.

International students pay 3-4x in fees what British students pay. Comes to £20K+ a year. It is completely ridiculous we treat them as some sort of scroungers when they are helping keep universities afloat.
