The HAPPEN study is a multi-phase, multi-centre RCT investigating whether improved oral care can reduce hospital acquired pneumonia. 11,500+ participants to date. Trial finishing in August.

Hard work out which is most important. We are also thinking of a “dose response” type paper as we have the hours cleaned each day.

Good questions. We are working on cost effectiveness paper at present (under review). This will help inform decisions around other models of delivery. We showed that doing it well once day makes some difference. Most equipment had a low baseline of cleaning in the control, some worse than others.
