MTV was cool for 3 or 4 years because it was anti-Establishment. Then, it wasn't so cool any more because it became the Establishment.
Everyone’s saying RIP MTV because they “won’t play music videos anymore.” But maybe hold them accountable for ushering in the reality TV era instead. That was the real death spiral. Culture has not been better for it.
