A friend said to me years ago that the progression of crises is tech becomes industrials which becomes financials and then kaboom. Over the past month it feels like we’re doing the handoff from industrials to financials.

So many of these innovative ideas may work on small scale or in controlled environment, but not so much in real world, scaled up on daily use. 😖

Trump is absolutely cratering in new Quinnipiac poll:

Overall approval: 38-54
Approval on economy: 39-56
Approval on trade: 39-54
On National Guard into cities: 42-55
On immigration, his "best" issue: 41-55

Trump is weak, unpopular, and failing. Treat him that way:

Trump/MAGA are trying to gaslight us into believing that anti-Jimmy Kimmel America is vast and deep, that MAGA's grip on the culture is unshakable, that mobilization is futile.

But this episode has demonstrated the opposite. Let's not forget it.

Thoughts on this:

This is the thing that makes the early corporate reaction to Trump so completely incomprehensible. A huge number of businesses went "well I guess one guy's posts are more important than basic rule of law or our customers' values, seems fine". Lotta executives just deluding themselves.

SF likely because it offers urban driving experience, it’s a complex operational design domain, able to test multiple scenarios. Also easier to trouble shoot cars close to HQ

Phoenix: weather and simple layout

Austin: City providing open & easy access to testing for autonomous driving since 2017

to me, the “column” is less a form than an opportunity (and a challenge). you’re telling me i have as much space as i’d like to make an argument about anything i’d like to an audience inclined to pay close attention? well let’s see if they’ll read 2000 words on democratic legitimacy. (gift link)

Best quote from the article 👇: “I’ve seen better organized riots,” said Rep. Sam Liccardo (D., Calif.), who represents Silicon Valley. Liccardo’s phone was lighting up Friday and Saturday, with anxious executives at small tech companies worried about how the changes would affect them.
