Opportunities to transform nature don’t get much bigger than this!

We have the opportunity to conserve 340 acres (138 hectares) of biodiverse countryside surrounding the Cerne Abbas Giant, Dorset.

The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

There are many positives that take root when you plant trees. Woodlands help our health and wellbeing, enhance biodiversity and improve water and air quality. We can also see economic benefits from the green jobs it supports and creates.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

In this time of growing Christian Nationalism, it is important to remember the *real* history of Thanksgiving. The Puritans didn't just come to the New World to flee persecution, they came here so they could be the ones doing the persecution.

I guess I now have to do a thread on shoes in ancient Mesopotamia in response to this (which happens to be from one of my favourite accounts).

I’m not an archaeologist, nor do I really know anything about shoes, but let’s go on this journey together.
can't believe this ancient mesopotamia shoe wearing ass said people need to dress up at the airport

Give me sunlight, a comfortable chair and a wall of books! This makes me declare myself a most satisfied soul. For the library is a territory of wonder. It is home to a thousand wise voices who know words that open gates to the imagination. – #CLNolan, BBC National Programme, 1934 #Libraries

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Sarah Kendzior speaks truth to power. If Bluesky can’t handle that, it’s not the open forum it claims to be. Silencing independent journalists is cowardly and dangerous to democracy.Censorship of critical voices isn’t a show of strength it’s a confession of fear. We need more accountability, not less

I have no use for a platform that suspends writers like Sarah Kendzior, and I suspect neither do thousands of others.

Hello @support.bsky.team

I heard from Sarah Kendzior @sarahkendzior.bsky.social that her account was suspended.

Can you please look into this and reinstate her account? She’s a published author and scholar on authoritarianism. Her presence here is valuable.

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.
