The moment the stock market recovered from April, I figured it wouldn't be long before Trump started in with tariffs and other destabilizing moves again. And look, he's doing it. Because throttling the market for his insider trading friends is the point.

Also, I hate to be the doomer here, but save Gaza? It's a pile of rubble. Every life matters, but I think we need to be very cautious about saying we saved Gaza when, in fact, countless have been bombed and starved into oblivion, and I highly doubt it's actually over.

Yes, a lot of the enshittification we're seeing now, including the sale of Tiktok and the huge rightwing investment in Substack, is a direct response not just to the Gaza community but to the Long Covid community as well. Tiktok and Substack were instrumental in both. That's my point.

Gotta be honest. I used to love social media. It was a place to go and connect, to learn, to express, even if it was about unpleasant stuff. Now, it very much feels like that's gone. I have an aversion to social media now.

That's not Trump's ideology. Same for many of his billionaire backers. His only ideology is self-interest. He thinks evangelical Christians are morons and he exploits their ideology for power. He has said as much behind closed doors. Understanding this is kind of important.

Last week almost nobody could get Covid vaccines. Now, almost everyone can get them. I call that unpredictable. I also read a lot of history. The big picture things are easy to predict. The granular things that often mean life or death for us here and now, not so easy to predict.

In the end, Trump will just do whatever the highest bidder or biggest influence wants. If someone else gains power and wants something different, he'll reverse course. I think that explains a lot of what's going on.

Today I finally realized that we can't ever truly understand the motivations of this regime because there's not a single ideology or logical paradigm. Often, it's just the intersections of individual greed, narcissism, and hate. That's why their actions often seem so hard to interpret or predict.

As Sarah Kendzior and others have explained, the scandals and stupidity are often bait for the media to distract everyone from the extraordinary crimes he commits. Though, yes, he is never acting alone and has plenty of super rich handlers who are definitely smarter than him.

Trump knows these tariffs are trashing every aspect of the economy, including agriculture. That seems to be the point. Create instability and drive everyone deeper into desperation.

Indeed, the pandemic showed them how to condition a population to accept mass death and suffering. They sort of stumbled into it with Covid. In Gaza, they weaponized and honed it. We certainly see it. Others are finally starting to wake up.
