Between a "No Other Land" crew mate filming himself being killed by a settler, to a journalist being killed by airstrikes he was covering minutes earlier, I'm not sure how much more televised Israel's genocide can be

🚨 BREAKING | Labour is set to impose a sweeping ban on trans people using any "single-sex space".

In EHRC guidance that Labour is set to approve, trans people will be barred from accessing toilets, gyms and changing rooms that match their gender.

Genocide scholars raise alarm about the genocide in Gaza. We don’t preserve the memory of past genocide victims by ignoring this genocide.
Taner Akçam, Marianne Hirsch, and I introduce the Genocide and Holocaust Studies Crisis Network and call for immediate concrete measures to prevent further atrocity crimes and to protect civilians in Gaza.
As scholars of genocide, we demand an end to Israel’s atrocities | Open letter
Within weeks, 400 colleagues joined our organization. We say: it is not too late to save lives. End the genocide now

Brilliant book
My book REVOLUTIONARY ACTS is released today in paperback with this beautiful new cover by Ajamu X. This is a social history of Black Britain’s gay communities, told through the generation who lived through Thatcher, AIDS and squats. Get yours 💚 linktr.ee/revolutionaryacts

wrote a thing for @jacobinmag.bsky.social trying to contextualise generative AI's deployment within capitalism's recent history — and what it means for labour
Knowledge workers, whose jobs involve handling information rather than producing goods, were supposed to be the beneficiaries of neoliberalism and globalization.

But generative AI and a hypercompetitive employment market is immiserating them too.

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

digital asbestos
I'm going to be honest here, I think AI is going to do so much damage to the usable internet that even after it's inevitably crashes out, it's going to take years to disentangle from every space it's polluted, like digital asbestos it's gonna be time consuming effort and likely expensive venture.
I think AI is going to eventually tank in the longterm, but...

the only real way to combat this is single-interest communities. Forums, user comms, etc, with a barrier to entry. They become trustable knowledgebases. It's really the only way forward is to return to what worked best the first time

Trees are pretty amazing bits of urban infrastructure. They’re basically the only capital asset that gets -better- after being in place for 20 years … and they’re wildly cross functional.

Actually I think Sir Keir Starmer should oversee and indeed personally choose every act that plays Glastonbury. This will be a flawless way to run both a democracy and a music festival.
