Jesse Welles last night at the Olympia was fantastic. All-ages crowd, really fired up and singing along to almost every song. His band was tight as hell, and his voice was in great form. He did some killer covers - and nailed the high parts in 'Creep' and 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain.' Great night!

Four months after it was promised, we finally have the government's transport investment plan between now and 2030. It's bad. Roads are in, public transport is out. A lot of public transport projects being put on the long-finger to make funding available for new roads.

Everyone who orders from our bookstore gets a free whistle. Everybody! Even if all you order is a $2 used paperback, you get a whistle. It's the perfect accessory for the winter months. You know—because of all the ice.

Any TV people I know want to join me and Maria Pramaggiore talking about Severance at NECS?

We have an 'innie' idea about the 'invisible' (or maybe not so) influences on the show. DM me or drop me an email.

The LUAS Red Line was thrown into chaos at rush hour this evening due to an incident at St James's. In order to find out what was going on with the service, the LUAS expected thousands of affected passengers to check their X account. It's ridiculous, enraging, and at this stage totally unacceptable
I posted on X for the first time In ages. Immediately deleted the post. Holy Christ. It’s bad bad. Like sticking your head in a wasps nest

This one's niche, but I'd get them to find all the footage that Ashby & Burum shot for 8 Million Ways to Die, get somebody well versed in Ashby's work to go through it all and recut the whole thing. Bridges and Arquette could help - there's an amazing film in there.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I met a UCC student here last night paying €2k/month for private accommodation in Cork city

I learnt students are paying gentrified prices for damp mouldy houses, not fit for purpose with landlords difficult to deal with

Time to get involved in Cork Student Housing Cooperative

What makes the passing of actors like Udo Kier extra poignant is that he was a reminder of a career film industries across countries and on multiple levels no longer exist to support. The vagabond weirdo who can show up in Criterion Collection darlings and DTV sequels, and be the best part of both.

I was the assistant editor on MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO. I have 9000 stories from that time, and many of them feature this man who passed away this morning, Udo Kier. He would talk about Fassbinder, Warhol and Paul Morrissey for hours. I was so lucky to get to know Udo and he will be missed by so many.

Love Cavett - he does a four-part interview with Richard Burton that starts slow and kind of basic and ends at just one of the most transcendent places.
Happy 89th Birthday Dick Cavett, thank you for making television that would absolutely never be made by a major broadcast network any more, like letting Orson Welles perform a 9 minute monologue on ABC
