In late August Renesto et al. published a paper where they described a specimen of Lariosaurus valceresii that preserves the skin, even outlining the body and limbs as well scales. I must say that I am happy that it is very very close to what I had hypothesized 😍

Last week the German Meteorological Society warned that "the 3-degree limit could be exceeded as early as 2050".

While not possible to fully rule out, the assessed warming scenarios we published in the IPCC AR6 report find this to be extremely unlikely.

Es gibt im Moment ein vorherrschendes Narrativ: Klimaachutz würde niemanden interessieren. Also, ja, andere Krisenthemen saugen Aufmerksamkeit auf. Aber zB Befragungen des Umweltbundesamtes zeigen: Klimaschutz ist immer noch vielen Menschen wichtig! Die ganze Zeit davon zu reden, dass das Thema die Menschen nicht interessiere, erzeugt eine Abwärtsspirale. Es rutscht bei immer mehr Menschen vom Schirm. Egal wie drängend die Neuigkeiten sind. Objektiv betrachtet gibt es gerade einen Klimaentscheid in Hamburg, Ergebnisse eines Bürgerrats im Saarland und viele Menschen, die zB in Kommunen Klimaanpassung aktiv umsetzen. International versucht Brasilien einen Fonds aufzusetzen, um den Regenwald zu retten, seinen Fortbestand zu finanzieren. Kolumbien will zum fossilen Ausstiegsgipfel einladen. Donald Trump mag Klimaachutz zum Feindbild erklärt haben - aber weltweit versuchen viele Menschen ihn umzusetzen. Wir sollten sie durch unsere Sprache nicht unsichtbar machen.

New paper alert! In our new paper @plosone.org, lead author Arianny Storari collected, reared, and analyzed decay and disarticulation of hundreds of aquatic insects, and compared them to Crato Formation fossils to figure out what happened to them before they fossilized.
