Any time you approach social phenomena without any analysis of power dynamics you end up erasing important aspects of reality and help undermine people’s ability to fight oppression because the aesthetics of their methods can be superficially likened to the very oppression they’re fighting.
I will be a forever hater of the term “cancel culture,” a truly epic tool of context collapse and reductionism that has only benefited the powerful. Folks are always using this term to talk about critique of a celebrity and social campaigns against the marginalized like they’re the same phenomenon.

I don't think pointing out the fascists' 'hypocrisy' is a good use of time. It's not hypocrisy, it's hierarchy. They actually do believe that they have the right and obligation to dominate you because they are superior to you. They are using their power not being hypocritical.

PSA Neck gaiters are not masks. Neck gaiters are not effective at stopping the spread of airborne viruses. Masks, especially well-fitting ones are effective at preventing infection. Conflating the two is bad because it can encourage politicians to ban masks for the general public.

There’s a disturbing trend in TV & movies right now.
On hospital dramas or scenes in a healthcare setting, there’s less and less masking.
On crime or legal shows? Criminals are wearing KN95s.
They seem to be conditioning us to accept that masking = criminals.

Nobody likes waste. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that, in many ways, government is *designed* to be inefficient. It’s structured with redundancy and complexity both for audit and control purposes and because it tries to satisfy multiple competing societal goals. 1/2
btw i dont think anybody is arguing that we should cut waste what is being argued by sane ppl is that what elon trump and the gop are doing isnt that they are cutting things they dont like arbitrarily without any oversight or ya know legally

In my opinion, pressing on getting arrested is often the consequence of being too afraid of or guilty about being really disruptive and violent toward the establishment.
But real change requires both sacrifices and meticulous and systematic disruption.
