A 2004 internal Nintendo DS diagnostic cartridge contained various graphical tests, among them this "Rotating Mario Cube". A faulty unit would not be able to properly rotate the cube.

Some WarioWare series microgames appear random, but are actually synced up to the beat of the fuse on the bottom of the screen. By timing the input to the position of the fuse, the microgame can be beaten perfectly every time.
In WarioWare games, the fuse timer on the bottom of the screen moves in increments called beats. Some microgames may appear randomized, but are actually synced up to the beats. For example, the giant in the "Crack Down" microgame from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ always strikes the ground on a certain beat that depends on the microgame's level. Level 1: Beat 5, Level 2: Beat 4, Level 3: Beat 6 As such, the microgame can always be cleared perfectly simply by timing the jump to the fuse. Panel 1 August just fixed something on his boss's computer. August: I fixed the problem. Stuart: Thanks big fella! I could never figure it out. Panel 2 August is confident that his boss could easily fix the problem on his own instead of requesting a fix two or three times a week. August: It's easy. I could show you how I did it. Stuart: Sounds complicated! I'll leave it to you. Panel 3 August attempts to teach his boss how to do it. It truly is a quick fix. Something that just requires a keyboard shortcut and maybe a click or two. Stuart has zero interest in making his life easier. August: All you need to know is a keyboard shortcut. Stuart: Got a call to make! Talk to you later! Panel 4 August feels slightly defeated but tries to take comfort in the fact that these types of tasks help show his worth to management. August: I guess this is job security. Stuart: AUGUST! COME BACK! I broke it again!

In Super Mario 64, Boos have a certain minimum turning radius. If Mario is positioned a precise distance away from a Boo, it will try to go after Mario but never be able to turn tightly enough to actually reach him. The Boo will circle fruitlessly around Mario forever.

Having had little experience with short-form microblogging prior to Bluesky, I've found that having to format everything to fit into 300-character chunks makes it hard to spin a shaggy dog story without making it obvious you're doing a bit. It's way easier to "get" people with unstructured rambling.

It is well-known that most Bowsers in Super Mario Bros. are fake, being enemies like Goombas wearing Bowser disguises. However, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe suggests that the Fake Bowser's fireballs are also fake, secretly being Cheep Cheeps.
It is well-known that defeating the Bowsers in Worlds 1 through 7 in Super Mario Bros. (and The Lost Levels) reveals that they are actually enemies wearing Bowser disguises. Each of them turns is revealed to be a different enemy, e.g. a Goomba or a Spiny. However, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe suggests the fire breath is fake as well. The Bowser in World 1-4 of The Lost Levels (included in this game) is revealed to be a Goomba when defeated with fireballs. In the original Famicom game, the fire breath can not be defeated. However, in this version, Koopa shells can take it out, revealing that it turns into a red Cheep Cheep in the exact same way the Fake Bowsers turn into their true selves. It is unknown if this is intentional or a glitch, as no official statement on this was given by Nintendo. However, since new Fake Bowser identities were added to this game on purpose (Green Cheep Cheep and Bullet Bill, seen in the You vs. Boo stages), it is at least possible that this is in fact a deliberate Easter egg.
