Only advice I’ll give new people here: block the cat pic feeds that follow you. They’re follower aggregators who sell their accounts when they get big enough and make everything around here worse.

Because the feeling of gravitating towards doom has been a constant in my life. I'm not a nihilist though. My favorite metaphor is Walter Benjamin's angel of history. It has its back turned toward a promised paradise to which it is driven, its gaze fixed on the catastrophes that pile up in the past.

As a teenager, I saw David Lynch's Dune, fell madly in love with Kyle MacLachlan, and then started reading the Dune books. Never finished the series, but the name felt like home to me.
