Extremely precarious times for civil liberties in the UK. The opposition calling for a British ICE, the Labour government cracking down on protest.

A reminder that this week the Conservatives announced they want a “British ICE”

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

"Deloitte Australia will issue a partial refund to the federal government after admitting that artificial intelligence had been used in the creation of a $440,000 report littered with errors including three nonexistent academic references and a made-up quote from a Federal Court judgement."

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:

It's a symptom of how Westminster focused British political commentary is that in almost all the discussion on Andy Burnham's possible challenge for Labour leadership, pretty much no-one has sought to look at what he's actually done in/to Manchester.

Now's your chance to read some urban scholarship

It is a clear case of factional politics coming back to bite some people in the ass.

I think British politicians, the media and political commentators would be in a much better position to combat the far-right today if they hadn't spent the past 10 years painting every anti-racism campaigner and leftist as a crank and beyond the pale of 'sensible politics'.

An actual quote from the Secretary of State for Business and Trade

Too often people go to university to ‘explore research and knowledge’

Look forward to Wes S saying 'too often people go to hospital to have operations' or Heidi Alexander saying 'too often people go to the station to catch a train'
