Entirely, painfully so. Anxiety and low self-esteem always have me assuming I'm not wanted unless irrefutably stated. Ultimately my problem to control but clarity helps immensely!
That said I think the second example reads much better as:
"I'd love to see you if you'd like to come."

People with trauma histories often interpret neutral cues as negative.
"You can come if you want." sounds to them like the person doesn't actually want them to come.
Affirming that you want them there helps remove any doubts.

If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.
