Trump just said, on air, that he and the GOP "took" a Constitutional right away because the Judicial Branch said something he disliked was allowed and he disagreed.

Ask every single Republican, sitting or running, from dogcatcher on up if they support that. Every day. Forever.

i can’t believe we got another woke pope after all

Oh — new reporting on Pope Leo from El Paso Matters, citing footage they have of yesterday's meeting.

Sounds like the pope was even *more* forceful in urging U.S. bishops to speak out about immigration than first reported.

I mean, that's…not subtle. elpasomatters.org/2025/10/08/e...
“I was struck at the beginning (of the video), it talks about the feeling of powerlessness, which I think is so much. I think it’s so important that we as a church give a message of hope in the midst of these horrible struggles, what’s going on in so many cities in the United States right now. At least the church cannot be silent,” the pope told the El Pasoans, according to a video of the meeting provided to El Paso Matters by Hope Border Institute.

Seitz responded: “You’ve spoken very strongly. We’re trying to do the same in our country and yet not get into the political fray the best that we can.”

Pope Leo told Seitz that he’d like to see the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops become more vocal on immigration issues.

“I mean, even within the conference, there are challenges. That’s one place they should be … I wish they were stronger in their own voice,” Leo said, adding that Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the president of the conference, should speak out more on immigration.

“There’s been some good movement in that sense, but I certainly intend to continue to encourage” U.S. bishops to address immigration, Leo said.

In rejecting precedent & embracing outright partisanship in its rulings, the Supreme Court is invalidating both itself & the very core of our national contract - an *incredibly* dangerous act

What happens when a nation or society has no faith in its institutions or the very “rule of law?”

📜/4
adroitlyabsurd.bsky.social
The founding of our nation, the very keystone from it’s inception, is rule of law. The idea that these social contracts - for that’s all law is; agreements which only work when we agree they have weight & enforce them - are an inexorable bedrock of our nation & government

A keystone holds an arch aloft, locking the structure firm. Remove it & the structure falls

Ancient stone/wax tablets of Greek & Roman antiquity bore laws - cementing intangible concepts into physicality, reality

July 4th - the date we celebrate our independence

Now let’s add it all up:

I teach about this at work - that is, the foundation of law being mutual agreement in it’s “concreteness”

It’s best summed up in the symbolism of the tablet in the
Statue of Liberty’s arm, a keystone-shaped tablet reading “July 4th 1776”

There’s good reason for why it looks like that:

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

Some would argue we’re already there the way shadow dockets & blatantly partisan rulings have been used of late…

What’s insane is this is an admission that fundamentally destroys the legislative branch

If precedent has no meaning neither does the law - & of course the Supreme Court becomes utterly meaningless

In addition, the new rule allows farm employers to charge H-2A workers for their housing, which was not allowed before. "It's a way for employers to continue to house workers and also charge them, and bring down effective wages," said Marcos Lopez of the Labor and Community Center at the University of California, Davis.

It’s farcical to plan candidates for 2028 when the Republic might not make it past the end of this year, let alone midterms; it’s an equal act of betrayal to push someone as the presumptive nominee b/c their “milder” evil comes robed in blue instead of red

It’s still worse than we could do
