I'm turning this account into a Toronto Theatre Reddit snooping page. I'm obsessed with it. I love the fights. I love guessing who people are!

Please DM me with your guesses at to the identities of the posters so I know who I'm down and upvoting!
I saw 52 plays this year (not including the 3 I worked on).

As I wait for my laundry to finish, here's what I loved

also, BUG at the King Blackbox is SENSATIONAL. Been a while since I've seen a play in Toronto that made me feel this tense and direction this specific. So shocked to see work of this caliber with a minute fraction of the budget of every theatre in Toronto. Closes Thursday (they got extended).

rough news today
Was rooting for Hague, but she never really got going at Factory whether due to circumstances outside her control or not.
#Exclusive: Mel Hague is set to depart Factory Theatre. She joined the company in 2022.

Yesterday, I saw Wicked: For Good and Zootopia 2.

One was an unnecessary sequel about the plight of animals, brought to life onscreen in garish colours.

The other was Zootopia 2.

Here's my Critic's Pick review of Disney's best sequel in years.

Zootopia 2 corrects the ‘cop-a-ganda’ record of the first movie with punny style

I'm still thinking about Wicked part 2 and how frustrated it made me versus the musical (which also has a weak act 2, but feels less frustrating somehow).

Really impressed with Oleanna two nights ago and the nuance Anthony Goncharov found in his precise direction. Closes this weekend (and don't let Mamet stop you from going. The work is really good).
It's tough to break into the Toronto theatre scene. Two indie companies have tried recently, with striking productions of OLEANNA and PIGEON!

Tonight's silent disco range, I've heard, will cover both Old Flame Brewing and The Young Centre, so dancers will have multiple rooms in which to get their groove on. #FringeTO

15 @toronto-fringe.bsky.social shows in and faves are Zeitgeist, Potato, Potato and Iris (though this is ENTIRELY based on what was pulled today. If you see Iris, I really encourage you to pick the ring box, because you get something special and magical, ESPECIALLY if it's the 11 o'clock number).

Sold out @toronto-fringe.bsky.social show got out of Michael Young Theatre @ 11:15pm tonight. Young Centre bar was closed. Patio must close @ 11pm, fine. But why forego $1000s in drink sales inside? Crowd stayed until forced out @ 12am. Does Soulpepper even WANT the #FringeTO community there??

It’s one of Shakespeare’s so-called ‘problem plays,’ but in the hands of the Stratford Festival, it’s a must-see production.

My first four-star review out of this year's Stratford opening week, now up @thestar.com.

Don't miss this one!

Director Antoni Cimolino’s “The Winter’s Tale” places complete trust in the material and in the skill of its cast. The result is astounding.

Loved this episode of TLOU2. I think interplay between Ellie and Dina doesn't feel as satisfying as Joel and Ellie because they're so similar and the relationship has kind of come out of nowhere for us as viewers (yes we know they have history but we're not privy to it). Joel's relationship with...

Ellie killing Norma didn't feel as impactful as it does in the game (you literally do button prompts as you beat Nora to death), but intersplicing the astronaut flashback right after felt like it was a justified choice. The show still feels a little overwritten, but loved that ending button.

Catherine O'Hara's scenes in TLOU2 feel like deleted scenes that ruin how quietly powerful subtext and silence can be. The presence of a therapist for the characters also feels like the writers don't trust their audience

Because X is the bad place, my last of us part 2 thoughts will go here. Obvs spoilers.

I LOVE TLOU 2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I love how horrible it is, how it never gives it's heroes what they want, how every act of violence is driven by an incredible love for those killed by another.
