I am the consummate car guy. I dedicated my life to creating and adoring them. But I have also learned that life is better when you don’t need one. I’d rather take the bike and/or the train and I love living in a walkable city. It’s not about “taking away your car”, it’s about giving you a choice.

You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

🚶🌍 Hampstead is going car-free this Sunday — and we’ll be there! 🎉

Come find us on Church Row from 12–3pm for a chat about all things sustainable school transport.

Whether you're curious about walking buses, cargo bikes, or just making the school run easier and greener — we’d love to talk!

The more kids are invited to bike, walk and take public transit to school, the safer, healthier and smarter it is for EVERYONE. It’s shocking how much vehicle congestion in cities is actually “driven” by trips to and from schools. #BackToSchool #LetKidsBike #LetKidsWalk cartoon by Yehuda Moon
Cartoon about the amount of unsafe traffic “driven” by parents driving their kids because of safety concerns. We need both safer conditions and a different perspective about what’s safe.

Baking in car dependency ignores the climate crisis leaving people living with no local amenities or even any public transport within walking distance.

And there’s no mention of how many of these homes are for affordable or social rent.

Our planning system needs some urgent attention.

If each home has three parking spaces, that's three parking spaces worth of land that isn't something else.

Me, trying to work out how Newcastle managed to solve its traffic problems overnight.

Oh yeah, it's the start of the 6 weeks summer holidays.

Which demonstrates that an awful lot of our traffic in the mornings is School Run.

Why did the Council abandon it's #SchoolStreets programme?

Interesting, same in London. We are looking into areas with high density of independent schools to study what difference it makes to the morning and afternoon traffic, would I be able to talk to you about the situation in Newcastle? www.greenschoolruns.org

Camden consults on a scheme on Fitzjhons Avenue including a cycle lane, crossings, and rain gardens. The local Conservatives sent an email around saying: This road already has a fantastic, mature array of trees and grass verge. The introduction of rain gardens is unnecessary in this context. Today

Do you recognise the 'Hill of Hysteria'?

Clever new study shows a powerful ‘status quo bias’ prevails re new transport policy. Looks at levels of public fear about this, finds exact inverse of the Goodwin Curve of public support: the “Hill of Hysteria”!

Sad to see so many choose to die on that hill

The deadline has been extended by a week - to the 13th. This probably is in response some challenges from locals so is concerning but it means we could try to get some more support next week. Please retweet.
