One year I went to the movies with my wife to try and kill time / relax (so little you can meaningfully do at this point) but we chose THE JOKER

It’s not about driving to the voting booth as a trip generator. It’s about giving people the chance to drop their papers off en route to doing other things in their life.

He’s not an analyst either. He’s somehow managed to forge a career out of being an aggregator of other people’s reckons

What is the end game here? Making people feel bad about taking up an opportunity to vote in a dangerously low turnout election?

Honestly the urbanists need to pick their battles

Somehow this was less controversial at my catholic high school than the time we put up Patty Hearst SLA posters

For Bursary history we had to write an essay on the accuracy of an historical film.

Others chose Braveheart or Schindlers List.

This is the kind of content I am here for.

Underrated, impossible and physically exhausting job, that of the speaker.

I had a theatre lecturer who insisted on calling him Bertie B in a soothing baritone and try as I might it’s lodged in there for good

Firstly, $7k is a bargain for a painted portrait.

Secondly, seems odd to me that staff would just make that kind of decision at an operational level.

An image of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, twirling on an alpine meadow in a long Austrian skirt, next to an image of Christopher Plummer as Georg Von Trapp in the same movie, tearing a Nazi flag in half.

this is very very funny, but I think my favorite part is the implication that Keanu Reeves got suckered into saying yes to a bad play

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.
