AKA samaranth, for those in the know. I’m here for anything law/politics/history. And Tolkien, if that’s not a step too far.
I am so going to start my next law assignment with ‘I have searched the depths of Legal Arguments not yet articulated or vetted on this subject, and will be presenting an irrefutable one in the very near future.’

Since February 15th is coming up, a friendly reminder that mouthy women get stuff done even way back in the day: constitutioncenter.org/blog/on-this... #belva #lockwood #women #lawyers ⚖️♀️
On this day, women first allowed to argue Supreme Court cases
On February 15, 1879, President Rutherford B. Hayes signed a new law that would admit women as members of the Supreme Court bar and allow them to submit and argue cases at the high court.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Court records described Fairleigh as having an “utter disregard” for bail conditions and the AVO. Police argued he presented an “unreasonable risk” to Samantha and other women, noting he was still active on the dating app Bumble. Urgh.

Samantha’s ex-partner isolated and abused her. He’s the first man in NSW to serve jail time for coercive control
In public the Sydney man was the picture-perfect partner, but behind the scenes was manipulative and controlling.

If you’re due, today is a good day to go, or if you’ve been thinking about starting, do it now.

Employers, give people a little time off to donate.

Organise your social or work group to go together.

Do it today.

It was a turning point that legislated what we already knew in our hearts, that racism has no place here.

It’s pure racism, all the other excuses for these protests are lies.
