As always, we want to build this important feature for the community WITH the community.

@aj @NarrelleMHarris Five floors isn't too bad, I find. The original office building had three lifts, but when it was redeveloped into apartments the stingy developers cut it down to two. Annoying.

@andypiper No direct experience with Pixel Watch, but my elderly mother got a Samsung Watch partly for this reason.

She's managed to trigger it accidentally when she overenthusiastically clapped too hard at her favourite football team scoring a goal.

She also managed to trigger the fall alert […]

Tell me about fall detection on Pixel Watch. Is this a useful feature for older people? How usable is the Watch in general? Any practical knowledge or experiences? Thanks 🙏🏻

@juergen_hubert A thing that often happen is the visibility of abusive posts us not set to "everyone".

So it's important to be aware that when there's an abusive reply, it might not be visible to you.

There are also some instances that take a very lax attitude towards moderation.

With the recent influx of newcomers from #bluesky , it behooves us to contemplate what we can do to improve #moderation on the #fediverse - something that has been a problem in the past, and is one of the major reasons why the Fediverse is not as big and as diverse as it could be.

The first and […]

And here we go. I never wrote this article, and yet it is cited here.

And of course, it sounds so plausible, I seriously checked whether I had forgotten it, or the footnote was slightly wrong.

Apparently theres a new wave of people joining mastodon, and with them a new wave of self-appointed cops "welcoming" them with long lists of mostly fictitious "rules" they need to follow.

This is a social media platform, with many of different ways to use it. It's fine. Mostly, just try to be […]

@timrichards @NarrelleMHarris That sucks!

Unfortunately for us the lifts in our building are very unreliable. The saving grace is that we're on one of the lower floors, so thankfully not too many stairs to climb.

It was out of service for a month earlier this year while the building managers […]

Jeez we got home from the Mildura train to discover both lifts were out in our Melbourne CBD apartment building - only the third time that's happened in the 22 years we've lived here.

The repair guy had been called, so we went to Brother Baba Budan for a coffee. I then climbed the five floors […]

@philip Ooh shiny!

Looks like they didn't let the architects go all out to the same degree as the Sydney Metro, but it still looks very modern.

@ajsadauskas @DanielleVossebeld The trains in Sydney are the same size as the Dutch one. (They're slightly wider in Melbourne and narrower in Brisbane, but that's a story for another day!)

The difference is the seats and the aisle are slightly narrower. There are also no armrests between seats […]

Typically, the trains are made up of two sets of four carriages, so eight carriages in total.
