A Victorian aesthete, actual human crow, or elf-loving gamer? The world may never know. PhD candidate in English, though. Talk to me about poison in literature!

Some people are mentioning self-care, and I am not knocking self-care!

But I actually wrote this because I think it is incredibly important to do other-care in this moment. Connect to other people. Make their world better.

I am not saying things are going to be fine.

I am saying, find a thing to do that will put a little more hope in the world, however small.

You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

As our greatest artists finish their arcs, it falls upon those of us who remain to step up our games in their honor and memory.

We have generations to broaden and inspire as we were broadened and inspired when we were coming up.

Fix your heart.

if you dream of being an artist, no matter how much you’ve directly engaged with his work, David Lynch is the standard. he has impacted at least one thing that has impacted you; that will always be the case, even decades from now. oh, to have a modicum of his brilliance, his vision, his empathy.

Those of you frustrated by newspaper paywalls, your library probably has a free service for that. Most libraries offer digital access to databases with most major newspapers and magazines. Some even offer free accounts to specific individual newspapers.
I’m a public librarian in a degenerating democracy, and I am pleading: Care about your library. Use it. See what programs and events it offers. And pay attention to its governing body. See who the trustees are. Consider running yourself. Libraries will need all the community support they can get. 📚

Very much swinging between “NOTHING CAN STOP ME FROM CREATING MEANINGFUL CHANGE 😤👊💥” and “I think I would like to be in a coma for the next four years” with no inbetween

would like to thank whoever put Dragon Age Tevinter Nights on Kindle Unlimited so I can assuage my immediate need to know more about Lucanis before Halloween

Just to put an underline and exclamation point on this--my local sheriff's election was decided by ONE VOTE. I could literally see how important it was that I went to the polls that day (and for the runoff, and the one after that bc the other candidate didn't like this result).
Cannot stress enough the importance of getting involved in politics at a local/community level. You don’t have to run for anything, you can give time by volunteering, money by donating, etc! It sounds improbable but local elections are the foundation of the nation.

in my free time (ha...hahaha) I'm replaying Dragon Age Inquisition to get ready for The Veilguard and my favorite little detail is the lit candle stuck just so on Josie's parchment.

well apparently the way I plan to use this app is swanning in every couple of months to reblog a meme or talk about something upcoming and then bounce again, which is largely how I used the bird app too honestly

"Your future is a horror story written by your crimes," is such an absolute A+ literary line that you'd be forgiven for forgetting it comes from the Muppets.

My general exam is tomorrow and I feel SO NORMAL about it. Definitely not playing a 10 hour loop of Baldur's Gate 3 music and ambience in the background while I try to shove as much theory in my brain as possible. 😬 Realistically I know it will be fine! AND YET.

For our anniversary this weekend, my partner and I did a double feature film night.

I chose The Crow, but he hadn't decided on his film yet until he realized he'd seen Top Dollar before...in The Three Musketeers as Roquefort.

Excellent film combo, highly recommend
