Haven’t been on Bluesky in months but I’m here for my annual plea for the mayor of Spokane to call a Minnesotan to consult about winter road management, since Spokane’s current strategy leads to the morning commute taking place on a skating rink (which is preventable!!!!)

I don’t really think that there’s any difference between calling human beings “NPCs” or calling them cockroaches or “human animals” or any other classic rhetoric of dehumanization and I find it pretty worrying that people who are otherwise concerned with respectability have adopted its use

Someday in the not-too-distant future, I’ll need to buy a new car. It occurred to me this morning that I’ve been putting equal energy into saving for said car and hoping a new car will just magically be offered to me somehow

“…because most of them were—and here I will use a technical term—kind of weird about women.” This piece from @mollieoreilly.bsky.social is excellent (and a far more sophisticated take than my recent substack lament about women in the CC) www.commonwealmagazine.org/pope-leo-and...
Pope Leo and Women

It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.
@roxanegay.bsky.social maybe you’re right.
