There is zero distance between the philosophy informing US foreign policy of twenty years ago and that of Trump today. The US is the empire and gets to set terms. We should not have been surprised.

There are new trees on my block embedded in the salty ice pile plowed up from the street, because the contractor graders pushed things back way past the limit. Just incredibly wasteful.
