March 12th Washington state passed a bill that increases special education funding $2 billion over the next 4 years. We usually get just under $2 billion from federal funding towards sped each year but at least it will make up a quarter of the losses when our state doesn’t comply to trump.

My autistic son at 3 years old used to say a word once every 3 months.
At 4 years old it went up to a few every 3 weeks or so.
At 5 years old, I have heard him say several words a day. Several communicative phrases. He calls me mama.
The difference? Speech therapy through public preschool school.

One thing I can always count on is that if there’s one kid with an illness at school, my child will come home with said illness. We miss every other week of school lately 🙃

My almost 5yr old autistic son and his 2 year old brother decided to try to overflow the bathtub and lock themselves inside the bathroom together. I broke the door down with my shoulder after all else failed. Only push locks from here on out 🙃

I know it’s probably a coping mechanism or something but every year around the due date month of the baby I miscarried, I hear someone who sounds like my daughter call out “mom?”. Every time my daughter is at school or asleep.
