I didn't know Mamdani's wife was a comics nerd! New York, you have to vote for him now because I need at least one person in comics to have good health insurance.

That also made me start bringing comics into my work in medicine and science, too, which again, just completely changed my life, finding connections between all the work I do gave me a new perspective on everything. Comics might break your heart but sometimes they can also put it back together.

Like there's just no way you sit in a room and listen to those two talk about comics and don't leave incredibly inspired, wanting to read and make all the comics.

That got me a pro badge for San Diego Comic-Con, went for the first time - first thing I saw was a spotlight on Lisa Hanawalt moderated by Tom Spurgeon - an incredible gift to me as a cartoonist, seeing the joy of comics through their eyes made me really start making comics and I haven't stopped yet

I posted some Bob's Burgers fanart and then one day, out of the blue, got an email from one of the producers of the show asking if they could use it in the comic for the show.

The moment sparked something, completely shifted my relationship with art and comics and truly changed my life completely.

here's a little bean going off the high dive
very dumb minimal cartoon of a little bean in the upper left corner arcing slightly off just the tip of the high dive, which we barely see. All shown in profile. Because the image is close up we don't know exactly how high the dive is

I saw this on Easter 20 years ago with two of my sweetheart’s then-teenage cousins. I’m so happy I got to write about it again.

The Japanese punk musical ‘Linda Linda Linda’ might make older audiences nostalgic for the glory days of basic cable, when a film like this would have found a place in the mono-counter culture. crookedmarquee.com/lets-sing-a-...

I used them for making photobooks before I started self publishing, was fine but not great and I remember Picaboo ended up being better/cheaper for that. Have been using Mixam now that I am doing self publishing though and really like them.

Somehow, even when it's not a Frogby comic, he still ends up in it cause I just love drawing him so much
Ideas can be transformed

Frogby, a little pink frog with a beret and a paintbrush stands in front of a blank canvas with the idea of painting a flower, but the blank canvas has been mucked up by a little frog gremlin while Frogby sighs, "I helped" says the gremlin, proudly, looking at the canvas, no longer pristine. "Wait", says Frogby. He has an idea. Using the giant smudge as a starting point, Frogby has transformed the marred canvas into a beautiful butterfly. The little gremlin says "I love it!" helpfully.
