rare to see an american politician speak in these terms and it rocks
“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”

I want to connect the dots.

The rush to call Renee Good a terrorist, the rewriting of Jan 6th - it's all part of Trump's campaign to use violence to protect his power.

A world in which our leader gets to shoot or attack us if we oppose him - that's a dystopia we cannot permit.

ha - NYT has now changed this sentence, managing only to amplify the absurdity and offense of the original: "Both Mr. Mamdani and Mr. Maduro describe themselves as socialists, though the policies Mr. Maduro presided over in Venezuela differ starkly from those Mr. Mamdani has vowed to pursue."
NYT gonna NYT: "Both Mr. Mamdani and Mr. Maduro identify as socialists, though they have no relationship.” — would be funny if they did this every time you write about two capitalists.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Imagine being 17, your little brother by your side, begging to speak to your dad as he’s dragged away. You may never see him again. And this is every day. Soul shattering, nightmarish stuff, never to be forgiven.
A Naperville man was hauled away by federal immigration agents Thursday morning as his two sons watched, the older boy begging them not to hurt his father and tearfully asking for a chance to speak to him before they left.

This was powerful
Something unexpected happened at the @meidascanada.ca town hall in Victoria.
A group of young Afghan girls who escaped the Taliban showed up and asked to speak. They told their story of the fight for education and the need for Canada to help.
We will be sharing their story.

Cuomo helped form the IDC, a group of rogue Democratic state senators who sided with Republicans year after year to keep loopholes in NY’s rent stabilization laws.

The result: tens of thousands of rent stabilized units were eliminated.

Another Cuomo noninterference story falls apart
Andrew Cuomo has always been careful to maintain a plausible-looking deniability when it comes to his role in keeping his own party out of power in the State Senate.

Really interesting how Lander is using his buddy flick/deep well of knowledge to…not just the outcome in November but educating people about policies and history of policies
True: @zohranmamdani lives in 1 unit of rent-stabilized housing.

Also true: Andrew Cuomo oversaw the loss of 96,064 units of rent-stabilized housing. And killed NYC’s program helping people move out of shelter.

Leaders must show moral clarity. Andrew, time to move out. 🧵
