Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a disabling chronic illness. People with ME/CFS experience profound fatigue that does not go away with rest, sleep issues, and problems with memory or concentration. Further common symptoms include dizziness, nausea and pain. The hallmark symptom is a worsening of the illness which starts hours to days after minor physical or mental activity. This "crash" can last from hours or days to several months.

I did a thing! I got my lifetime Access National Parks Pass! This was based chiefly on my autism level 1 diagnosis, as a “permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities.” Finally, an adult autism accommodation!

I applied at the entrance of a park, they were very nice

I am Disabled.

Not "Differently Abled"

So call me what I am.

Disabled.

Stop using these other "terms" they aren't as wholesome as you think.

Disabled ISN'T a bad word and we're NOT something to be ashamed of!

HRRDS SUDAN supply mobility aids to kids with disabilities!! The tough Nuba terrain makes it hard for them. With your help, they can keep providing these essential aids. Support their mission if you can : reframe.network/rlo/HRRDS #KeepEyesOnSudan #aidisnotspam

For me, accepting disability is firmly knowing your personal limits and not trying to operate above them for sustained periods and not trying to “elbow grease/effort” your way through a situation pretending disability doesn’t exist

It’s not a coincidence that all the things the authoritarians hate — education, public parks, libraries, disability care, actual freedom of speech — are exactly the things that help all of us, marginalized or otherwise, to thrive. The right need people to be suffering or else nobody needs them.

“I have never understood why, when everyone on the planet is one accident or medical condition away from disability, many people seem to lack any empathy and do not attempt to understand how it must feel to be refused service because of a disability.”

There are no real supports for Long Covid because there are no real supports for disability.
If we had real, livable patient centred supports in place your transition into disability would have still been rocky but with a modicum of dignity and much less fear & frustration.

Toxic positivity in disability justice manifests as nondisabled people demanding we:

-not discuss the reality of our disability
-temper our language to soften our truths
-focus only on “inspiring” messages
-ignore the ongoing impact of ableism in favor of reaching nondisabled people
