Labyrinth is the best movie to get to know me but not strictly horror in a way I very much like. I can never see Incident in a Ghost Land again. Like Joe Hill's story Best New Horror it made its mark on me but I cannot return.

I debated but honestly the Wheelers are terrifying. I love that movie with my whole heart.

I'm so weary I can feel it in my bones. I don't think I've felt this way since my son was a baby and was physically pulling calcium from me.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Don't worry. I research before I click on almost anything. But this is why Millennials don't answer the phone.

That and some of us are deaf.

Have I been able to receive unemployment benefits from the state of Ohio? No. Have I been targeted by scams preying on people desperate for unemployment? Yes.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

And I'm grateful this story is continuing to find its readers. 🧡

DUST has won the High Plains International Book Award for YA Fiction! I'm so grateful for the honor and wish I could have been there for the ceremony. Travel is just not in the cards for me right now. One day I'll get to MT. In the meantime, I'm very glad people are continuing to celebrate books.
The novel DUST by Alison Stine, a hardcover with an orange dust jacket of a girl's face in profile, sits open on a brown leather chair.

Again: this research is real but it exists in part to help MANUFACTURERS make better inhalers.

If you need to use your inhaler, use it. The problem doesn't lie with consumers. Writing this up as consumer service piece is a disservice. It's not for US beyond pushing manufacturers to do better.

the doj was like "idk"

the state of oregon was like "we looked into it and the answer is no"

I’m just gonna say it, the way a lot of you throw around terms like brain damaged, psychotic, mentally unstable, moron, etc to describe the actions of horrible people is really disappointing. Check your ableist language.

As someone who has hypoxic brain damage from respiratory failure; the way a lot of you conflate any kind of brain injury and/or neurodivergence with immorality really fucking sucks.

Disability doesn't cause fascism. Colonialism, capitalism and white supremacy do.
