Queer Chicago poet, any pronouns.
I may not use this but I have heard that writers have to have social media now and my personal accounts are uh. not professional.
Work now appearing in Prosetrics: The Literary Magazine & more to come
Wild grey hair & fervent eyes, an older man gripping a younger man's shoulder, proclaiming like thunder, "go, you fool! Your hesitation will be the death of you! You are capable, you lack only courage!" The young man nods, and the bus flies through the intersection. Pedestrians scatter, overawed.
Not all ghosts linger due to malice, or unfinished business. More often you will find those who loved so fiercely, dedicated themselves so passionately to something that their spirit remains long after their body is gone. Whose ghost do you meet today?

Fist bump to anyone else caught between the need to bow down & accept the dire, broken reality of the attention economy to continue surviving via their creativity & a desire to disconnect which becomes more vast, and more potentially vital to their sense of inner peace, with every year that passes.

I didn't publish a lot in 2025, but I'm proud of what I did publish. I'd especially love it if you'd consider my poem "the jacarandas are unimpressed by your show of force" (eligible for the Nebula, Hugo, and Rhysling awards). strangehorizons.com/wordpress/po...

for me it was the fact that the author is one of the main driving forces behind the global movement to kill my trans friends and erase their existence

hope that helps

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”

They find it inconceivable that you could believe in anything and act on it without getting paid because if there wasn’t an endorsement deal to hawk fake supplements or straight up cash for podcasting, these people wouldn’t even muster the effort to log on.

Readers... this AI shit in Amazon ebooks is something authors can't opt out of and it's frankly illegal, but when did that stop tech companies? The only thing they respond to (sometimes) is customer backlash — don't use this feature and tell Amazon you hate it.

Call your reps. Let them know that if they vote for ICE funding, you will not vote for them ever again.

Representatives need to feel the heat. NO on ICE funding. No excuses.
So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.

There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.

Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

24 hours. Go.
