They/them
Conservation biology major, part-time sword fighter, lover of libraries, Lord of the Rings, and all things big and small.
Courage, Merry, courage for our friends.
Went and saw 28 Years Later with my bf and when I saw the MASSIVE herd of deer and the dad and kid were like "what are they doing?" I leaned over to my bf and whispered "destroying the ecosystem"

Working in health care while going to school for conservation biology during the current administration feels a lot like that scene in Ace Ventura 2 when he's got a spear in each thigh but there's no comedic relief. Just spear tips lodged deep in the femur.

Listened to this at work today and immediately turned around and restarted the series for probably the 10th time. Frothing at the mouth for season 6 like some sort of rabid raccoon 🦝

What even is the point of assigning a huge, semester-long research project if you, the professor, aren't even looking at it for more than the two-minute presentation time allotted to each student?

When you have a really good idea for a study but you don't know how to do it and even if you did, you couldn't do it at the scale you want without a buttload of funding 🥲

I want to do grad school but also no. But also yes. But also I've spent the last three days working on a bison management plan to reduce the number of bison-related injuries in YNP and my brain is pudding. But also I've LOVED working on this project.

Big news from the mudflats!

The UK’s oldest known Oystercatchers - aged 41 and 43 - have been discovered on The Wash.

That’s three times their species’ average lifespan!

Legends wade amongst us... 😎

I'll repost this every day if I need to.

Do something. Plan a party. Send your friends info to start a garden. Post in community discords, ask questions of your neighbors, get to know folks.

Individualism is suicide and it's happening live.
Hey. Stop waiting for someone else to do something to make your community better. Just fucking do it.

I like to think that I do a solid job of cosplaying as a Real Adult, but I've been staring at the blank subject line for an email to a professor I had last fall because I want her to mentor me but I don't even know how to ask.

"I want you guys to remember that in this line of work, in conservation, if your work is pleasing to everyone and you're not pushing boundaries and you're not a little bit uncomfortable, you're not doing it right."

Shout out to all my rangeland ppl who love graminoids. The thought of having to learn new grams in a different part of the country makes me want to vomit. I'm sorry, I just hate grasses so much, if I don't know what something is, I say it's a poa and move on.

Does academia mean that sometimes your professors will hate you for literally no reason and shit all over the topic proposal that THEY approved? Or is this guy just an asshole?

I will remain whimsical. I will remain a silly goose. I will remain a beacon of light and love for those who need it. I will never stop running my mouth. I will keep seeing the beauty in the birds and the clouds and the grass and the bugs. I will not harden my heart. I will not lose my compassion.

Hey, how come when I don't like white supremacists on my university campus it's "hurr durr, it's free speech, they're allowed to be there, if you don't like it, don't look, snowflake" but when white supremacists get mad abt me existing as a trans no one tells them "don't like it, don't look"?
March 27, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Sweet fuck, trying to deal with these turning point assholes on campus is giving me a fucking migraine, I'm out here seeing stars
March 27, 2025 at 8:57 PM
I don't argue with transphobes to change their minds, I do it to show other queer and trans ppl that I'm here and loud and will run my mouth on behalf of my quieter siblings.

Apparently Tesla isn't selling any cars which also means it's not selling carbon credits. It made 2.7 billion in carbon credits last year. Carbon credits is largely what has kept the company afloat
Tesla's Sales Are Falling So Much That the Cash It Rakes in for Carbon Credits Is Under Threat
An important source of carbon credit revenue could quickly dry up for Tesla. And the pressure is on, experts warn.

FYI, weather nerd here...the National Hurricane Center just released their track verification statistics. 2024 set a new accuracy record for every forecast period through 120 hours. The day 5 forecast is now more (or as) accurate as the day 2 forecast was in 1990. Throwing all that away.

If the dean of my university won't listen to students when we protest and hand deliver petitions to her office demanding that she protect her students, then maybe she'll listen to me slapping up stickers everywhere calling her a fascist ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
