CS Lewis wrote a science fiction series. It's not his best work but I keep being reminded of how he depicted the devil. The protagonist is stuck on a Forest island with the actual devil for his only company. The devil could have tormented him in a myriad of ways but instead ...

It's so crazy that the Democrats can't do anything when they are in the minority to the extent that they may as well not hold office at all, and then, as soon as they have the majority, they can't do anything because they are being procedurally blocked in ways that leave them just as helpless.
If I say I think the Dems need to do better as an opposition party the dumbest segment of Bluesky will take that as me supporting Republicans somehow lol

The push back from against calling it fascism has always come from the same place doesn't matter which side.

Once you say 'ok, it's fascism and it's racial motivated' some real hard decisions need to be made that no one wants to make.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Bovino, as required for a Trump Administration job, is a shameless liar. What’s scarier than that is perhaps 25 to 35% of the nation are totalitarian-souled bootlickers eager to believe him. How do you make a nation out of people like that?
BOVINO: He was in the scene actively impeding and assaulting law enforceme--

BASH: But he wasn't impeding. He was filming, which is a legal thing to do in the United States

BOVINO: Dana, let's not free frame adjudicate this now

Dems should introduce legislation now defunding ICE and CBP operations in Minnesota, so they have to leave the state. One sentence bill. Demand an immediate vote. Maybe refuse to vote for cloture on any funding bills (or other bills) until a vote. Make the GOP Congress break w/ Trump or own it all.

What's making me really livid right now is thinking back to the years of commentary lecturing us that the rise of MAGA was rooted in a sense of righteous victimization by overbearing liberal elites, and sneering at those who insisted that it was fundamentally about domination and sadism all along.
They are telling us in unequivocal terms that if you show solidarity with immigrants who are in the literal crosshairs of Trump/MAGA, you're risking a death sentence.

Reporters should be asking congressional Republicans what *other* kinds of Americans they think deserve to be executed in the street by the president's goon squad.

"So you support the murder of a mom and a VA nurse, but what about an Eagle Scout or a kindergarten teacher? How about a priest?"

Democrats can and must make it clear there will be trials and anyone even somewhat associated with ICE will face them. Maybe give a quit-your-job deadline on appeasement and give people 72 hours. I don't know. But currently the plan is to let them murder us in the street and get away with it.

I feel the affordability argument is meant to reach across to Trump voters and is doomed to fail. The next Republican is going to make the same promises and the maga crew views prices as a secondary concern to crushing their enemies anyway.
