Jo Cox was murdered by a man with a house full of neo-Nazi agitprop and this was then retconned into a vague narrative about social media abuse
davidwearing.bsky.social
And if you're wondering whether someone getting killed is what it will take for the media and political class to come to their senses, I would just remind you that Jo Cox was murdered in a similar moment of demagoguery and hysteria 9 years ago, and if anything things have got far worse since then.

People’s homes are being stormed by far-right groups. The govt. Is saying nothing about how violence like this will not be tolerated. Where is Starmer’s “law and order” now? They’ve no control and we are moments away from someone being killed. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Ultimately, what is really being policed here is opposition to British foreign policy. This is political policing which will function to intimidate into silence people whose opposition to government policy is expressed in the same terms as are used by leading, mainstream civil society organisations.

Police in Canterbury today informed a protestor that the phrase "Israel is committing genocide in Gaza" could be considered a declaration of support for Palestine Action and therefore a terrorism offence.

Statistically in Britain if you are a cis man and you rape someone you are overwhelmingly likely to get away with it, there is a vanishingly small likelihood that you will be convicted. That is a feminist issue. Trans women wanting to use women’s toilets or play women’s football: not so much.

If nothing else, the sentencing of climate change protestors in the UK makes it very clear who and what the state values and protects here.
A BBC report on the reduction of Just Stop Oil founder Roger Hallam's prison sentence from five years to four years, upon appeal. BBC News excerpt: We are closing our live coverage of former BBC presenter Huw Edwards, who has been given a six-month sentence - suspended for two years - for child abuse image offences.

The 63-year-old faced chief magistrate Paul Goldspring at Westminster Magistrates' Court today, two months after pleading guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children.

Today we heard remarks from the prosecution and defence outlining the case, plus mitigating factors.

After being told his reputation was in "tatters", Edwards was given a six-month suspended sentence for a period of two years. BBC News excerpt: A former assistant head teacher has been jailed for more than two years after she sexually assaulted a pupil.

Catherine Pearl, from Abingdon, had been working at Didcot Girls' School whilst the victim was a pupil at the school.

The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a girl as an adult abusing a position of trust in November last year. BBC News story excerpt: A "coward" who repeatedly bit and beat his girlfriend during a terrifying attack has been jailed.

Brandon Holding, 25, also suffocated and stamped on the woman during the half hour ordeal in May last year, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

The woman, who was left with multiple injuries, said she feared she was going to be killed and had been left traumatised.

Holding, of Shafto Street in Newcastle, admitted causing grievous bodily harm and was jailed for two years and four months.

Holding and the woman had known each other since school and had been in a relationship for two years, prosecutor Joe Culley said.

You may think AI is useless but this new study just discovered that history is not just facts but also interpretation! Just think about how many more basic foundations of existing scholarship we might be able to “discover” if we let chat gpt burn through all of earths remaining fossil fuels!
christinekooi.bsky.social
“I thought the AI chatbots would do a lot better,” said del Rio-Chanona, corresponding author of the study and assistant professor at UCL. “History is often viewed as facts, but sometimes interpretation is necessary to make sense of it.”

Where does one even start....🗃️
