How I’m learning to navigate academia as someone with ADHD
Discovering how my brain works has helped me to better understand how to find equilibrium between my academic career and my well-being, says Ana Bastos.

She then accompanied me *all the way* through security checks while explaining to people I needed support, so that I managed to not miss my flight for less than a minute. Thanks to her awareness and kindness, I avoided a full meltdown in an unknown place and am safely heading home 🥲

I was having a panic attack at London Paddington due to a series of train cancellations and delays that were going to make me miss my flight. A super kind and experienced security officer took me by the hand, helped me through breathing exercises to calm down, when no one else seemed to care.
