When exactly did Netflix because an ACTIVELY terrible product? It shows how often I use it these days but the suggestions are actually awful? And the categories they try to show me are pathetic?

the r/games mods are, as far as I can tell, removing every single thread about this story. really bizarre behaviour
NEW: I spoke to Larian boss Swen Vincke about their ambitions for their new RPG Divinity, cutting down development time, pressures from Baldur's Gate 3, why BG3 wouldn't have happened without Tencent, how Larian uses generative AI, and much more www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Maker Promises ‘Divinity’ Will Be ‘Next Level’
‘I think this one is going to be way better’ than ‘Baldur’s Gate 3,’ Larian CEO Vincke says

man, I watched this & felt energised & invigorated by the depiction of left-wing activism, direct action, support networks. also, the first hour is so sexy and exciting. I thought, how many kids watching this are getting radicalised? (complimentary)

similar thoughts during How To Blow Up A Pipeline
One Battle After Another has a moral compass, but it’s also set in a far-right paranoid fantasy of Antifa terrorist networks, immigrant smuggling organizations, and hyper-efficient, militarized police. It’s a terrific, funny, and thrilling movie, but it seems to offer more ideas to the right?

"We're running out of good ideas" is the most ridiculous statement I can think of. There are tons of good ideas, they just don't involve further enriching the wealthy and powerful or building on the (worst) idea of infinite capitalistic growth.

Here's a free good idea, Vox: shut down your website

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

another banger was seeing Max Mad Fury Road at Dendy in Canberra. My sensory memory of it is my heart racing and thudding in my chest while being completely absorbed by it
definitely up there was the time I saw The Daughter at Event Cinemas in Macquarie alone in the cinema where I promptly fucking bawled my eyes out
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

My local Panettone World is using generated images of panettone to advertise their discount sale. It's not like they have an entire fucking store of panettone they could take a picture of for their poster. What a waste of everyone's time

addressing this from a health perspective: this is how you only find out you have bowel cancer too late. red water and red toilet paper will definitely inhibit your chances for noticing blood in your stool
I want this woman thrown in prison for at least a decade.

I had a really good time watching Dogs Don't Wear Pants (Koirat eivät käytä housuja in Finnish) but I had to aggressively pace in the room when she pulled the guys tooth out to deal with my ick response

I am once again thinking of THE VOURDALAK, one of last year's best features. An exquisitely beautiful and tonally accomplished horror film.

Look at any US news article about cyclists killed by cars. Unless it's on a cycling forum you'll invariably find many, if not most, comments are disparaging those who were killed or cyclists in general. It's culturally acceptable to wish for the deaths of people who cause traffic inconvenience.
