i mean i can see it with black/death metal etc now that i think abt it but then that might also just be bc that has never really held much appeal to me
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
i'm not being facetious this is genuinely a surprising perspective to me since i fell in love with literally the first song i heard lol
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
like i've had people explain ad nausem what they liked about certain forms of art or specific artists to me, and i appreciated it because i love that kind of insight, and it often did make me appreciate the work that went into the art, but it didn't make me vibe with it any more than i did before
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
idk, like i think that that is what it ultimately boils down to? like appreciation for the technical skill or artistry on display and actually liking the art itself are two different things, and while the latter can foster the former it's far from a sure shot

blaming jay or the site for this was not something i bought into but that doesn't make this any better
for.shame.wtf
Some of you are blaming @jay.bsky.team or @bsky.app in general, or claiming that this is being forced by @moderation.bsky.app. That could not be further from the truth. I'm shutting it down of my own volition because some of you can't be trusted to use this information reasonably and responsibly.

This is giving "the party is over and you don't want to be here when the cleaning crew arrives" vibes

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

Company leadership deemed the project too controversial for the moment, sources tell Game File

god well now we're all gonna die of curiousity (but like jokes aside that's completely fair)

so uhhhh about that

This labeler will be shutting down. We will first be unlabeling everyone who is labeled and then will cease to operate. As the unlabeling operation will take an unknown amount of time, we are not setting a specific timeline other than as soon as possible.

like hell, i like thinking critically about the music i like at times and most of the time i *still* just go "does this have a fiddle? is it fast? is it about being on a boat, missing the fair bonnie shores of home, or drinking? yup? cool, banger in my book"

what i'm getting from this is if we Post Through It hard enough collectively we will get a new edition of Geist: the Sin-Eater
aelkus.bsky.social
Social media is very effective at creating sin-eaters. A sin-eater is different from an ephemeral main-character. It's a recurring "well would you look at that guy" person you see screenshotted on your feed constantly, who is meant to stand in for the evils of some larger group you dislike
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
hey so this is bad i think

yup yup yup

like, krystal, you think about and analyze the music you listen to more than like 99.99% of people

i promise for the vast majority of us it's as simple as "beat sound good i like song :)"

Guess we will just have to wait for the trash people to be transphobic to our friends rather than the nearly 100% accurate "Jonathan chait follower" or "Jesse singal follower" tag when curating our user experience.

the apotropaic effect of dat ass
According to Balkan folklore, when it rained too much, women would run into the fields and lift their skirts to scare the gods and end the rain.
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
makes sense

fwiw i tried listening to it a lil bit and i think it sounds like ass too

i can see why people might like the groove as like a background track or something but idk it's very 'stoner music' to me and that has never really appealed to me
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
but yeah exactly! like my idea of the pinnacle of music is "a bunch of drunken fuckin pirates singing about fucking and fighting" and i staunchly stand by music peaking when the Irish first picked up a fiddle, and my opinions are no less valid for their impopularity lol

oh this seems interesting, very experimental, might give it a full listen at some point
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
yeag like if art could be objectively perfected we'd have seen fewer genres over time as we moved closer to that platonic ideal, rather than the absolute explosion we've seen over the past decades as more and more people found their hyperspecific niches and tastes
anarchoshanties.bsky.social
No piece of art in history has ever hit a 100% approval rating and that is neither a condemnation of the audience nor the artwork, it is simply that not everything works for everyone

plenty of alltime beloved bands with raging reviews i don't care for in the slightest either

this goes for everyone
