Long COVID Linked to Surge in POTS Cases
Researchers have found that postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) occurs in almost a third of patients with severe long COVID, making it far more common than in the general population. The study, the largest to date on the subject, showed that middle-aged women were most affected, with symptoms including dizziness, rapid heart rate, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The Government justified a clamp down on freedom of information requests by claiming an increase in malicious and automated FOI attempts. Only problem is, there's no evidence of such a thing.

Our research showed that the number of FOI requests has not increased, but processing time has. 🔗⤵️ #auspol

This is really important. The duopoly is trying to shut down honest and transparent government. Too many decisions are being made that don’t follow process and they want to hinder scrutiny. Politicians are using the we know what’s best (or what’s bad) for you and no discussion

Great to see our research being used in Parliament!

Australia Institute research shows that the proposed changes to Freedom of Information laws would make a repeat of the Robodebt coverup more likely, not less.

71 yr old Labor Minister for Trade and Tourism & Special Minister of State since 2022, Don Farrell can’t be bothered to listen to question by David Pocock Senate Estimates. Senator for SA since 2016, after previous term from 2008 to 2014.

His arrogance, disrespect on full display. Time he went.

David Pocock asks Don Farrell some serious questions about why the govt has not implemented an important recommendation from the #RobodebtRC.
Farrell caught playing on his phone, not even paying attention.🙄 Pocock hasn’t the patience to try again & moves on. #Estimates

The Black Summer bushfires cost Australians over $50 billion.

As we enter another high-risk bushfire season, we shouldn't wait for the next disaster to act.

The Government could put a climate disaster levy on gas & coal exports to help pay for the damage.

Independent Senator David Pocock and Labor's Penny Wong clashed in Senate estimates yesterday over whether the Parliamentary Sports Club could be considered a lobby group, as reported in Crikey last week. The club is registered as such, and lists Responsible Wagering Australia as one of its clients.

Also very curious how people don’t realise that part of why the government doesn’t encourage testing for COVID when symptomatic is to prevent them ( correctly ) linking their new stroke / heart attack /diabetes / cancer relapse / pneumonia / embolism to it.

People under 25 collapsing at concerts isn’t a mystery — it’s COVID and Long COVID. Both can trigger POTS and other post-viral issues, but too many still ignore that reality.

Screenshot of a tweet by Fin replying to Sam Parker.

Sam’s tweet reads: “not to be so millennial but why is everyone under 25 about to collapse and die of thirst at concerts now.”

Fin responds: “it’s Covid it’s fucking Long Covid which causes POTS and a plethora of other issues. y’all need to stop asking these questions if you’re gonna ignore the answer.”

Paris is an example of a city who took things seriously and started making changes immediately. Doing targeted changes quickly and cheaply. Then going in and upgrading areas which needed improvements to handle the changes which emerged

The circular reasoning employed to justify this level of secrecy is so bizarre that Senate estimates could not clear it up, writes Anton Nilsson.

Powerful commentary by cartoonist Pat Hudson. AUS PM Albo's statement 2yrs after the Oct7 attacks made NO mention of the historical context (the Nakba, Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine, blockade of Gaza or genocide) or the 68,000 Palestinians killed by Israel #auspol #SaveGaza #FreePalestine
