I hadn’t used the Transit app in a long time since I rarely take the bus in Halifax anymore, but it’s added more sustainable transportation options for our city, including directions for walking, biking, Bird micromobility and Communauto Flex in addition to taking the bus or ferry.

P.S what a great photo of PP, really captures his smug incompetence

Carney is the right guy for the job right now. When his mandate is up, maybe there will be a better candidate; but otherwise it's anything but PP

It’s a full house at the town hall tonight in District 8 with Mayor Andy Fillmore and Coun. Virginia Hinch. #Halifax
A large crowd is packed into a small room at a community centre with a Black woman and a white man at a table in the front.

I'm curious to how my district will respond to Fillmore. They won't go easy on him IMHO

Can't wait to read about this Suzanne

They would have to actually care about people first. I know some of them do, but plenty don't

There are plenty of racist people in Canada, and Trump and US politics are enabling them. Normalizing the behaviour we see from US politicians, gives the racists who live here want to speak their mind too. We must oppose this at all costs, we want people to come here and thrive and help our economy

I’m impressed with Chender here for plainly stating that we need more housing in general, not just more public housing. And she’s right we need investment in Halifax Water and the power grid so that we can build in the right places, instead of just enabling more greenfield development.

Begging the transit users of Halifax to learn basic bus etiquette

Have your ticket / pass / money / transfer in your hand when you board

Move to the back

Do everything you can to not touch people with your body, bag, purse, water bottle

How to relieve traffic congestion, guaranteed:

Support density, sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and high quality public transit. Give people more reasons to stay out of cars and the road will open up to you.

An adult driver angry at a child they hit with their car.

Our car culture summed up in one video.
robsonfletcher.com
Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

Pritzker is right. They want to normalize troops in cities so they can steal every election just like Putin does.

When you’re on the bus you really notice that congestion is caused by cars.

Paris is an example of a city who took things seriously and started making changes immediately. Doing targeted changes quickly and cheaply. Then going in and upgrading areas which needed improvements to handle the changes which emerged

Popped into the Halifax Tool Library and got myself a membership. What a fun space! So many tools! This is great.

Thanks @danp.net for the recommendation! First job, fix my kids’ Nintendo DS 😀

Reading through all of the comments from the speakers, a lot of it feels very NIMBY to me. Lots of cliches (traffic, character of the neighborhood, ruining views). Some of it is legitimate, environmental concerns mainly (but believe it or not, eco-NIMBYism is real)

I am home but the public hearing for the proposed bylaw amendments for Dartmouth Cove has started. #Halifax staff just wrapped up a presentation.

You can watch here but I will live post what speakers have to say:
